Dragonfly Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends,
Hope you are enjoying Spring.  I am loving all the Spring bulbs in my garden.  They are so cheerful and always a delight after a long, cold winter.

Today's card is a birthday card made for one of my besties.  I layered the dragonfly die cuts and added lots of pretty papers.  I choose a bright color palette perfect for Spring.

Thanks for stopping in today.  See you next time with napkin cards!

Die cut Leaves Variations-

Hi Dreamers!
I hope you checked out the Lost Coast Design/Stencil Girl Blog Hop!!  You still have time to leave comments for a chance at the prize (Until March 30) !!  See my post here for the Blog Hop.  Lots of awesome projects by all the team members.

Today I am changing things up a bit with some all occasion cards.  I have been mentioning how I am making all those charity cards...Well today I am going to share a few of those with you.  I kept  a couple for myself too.  It is pretty easy to just make one more card when you are making multiples.

I started out by die cutting and die cutting.....I kept cutting all these leaves in different colors.
Then, I cut lots of slices of decorative papers in these aqua green/blue colors

The four cards below are going to Operation Write Home and Card Care Connection. I made multiples of these that I did not photograph because they were very similar.

I layered the leaves onto decorative paper backgrounds.  I made lots of variations with different sentiments. I tailored the sentiments to the specific charity.

I got tired of making those, so I decided that a doily would look good with the die cut leaves.  I still had a big pile of the leaves and wanted to used them.  So, here is where the design went......

This sentiment is from My Sentiment Exactly (MSE! is back in business now with new owners.)  I am so glad they are back.  I love their sentiments!!

And, then the design changed into this card below.  I had some leftover die cut ovals too.  Don't throw those out.  They always come in handy.   I added a bird frame from Stampin' Up.

Cards Using Memory Box Die Cut - One Spooky, One Not Spooky

Hi Dreamers,
A few weeks ago I won some really cool Blog Candy from Memory Box Design Team member, Bibiana!
Check out Bibiana's Personal blog too.  The blog candy was  a die cut called Willow Tree from Memory Box.  Bibiana asked if I would make a sample and send it to her.  Well, I made two samples and here is the first card--which is  not spooky.

Materials:
Willow tree die -Memory Box
CS: White, Bashful Blue, Pear Pizzaz (Stampin' Up)
Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage, Forest Moss, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo
Dye Ink: Rich Cocoa Memento
Stipple brushes
Ribbon
Pearls

Instructions:

  • Make card base from Bashful Blue CS and layer with Pear Pizzaz
  • Using a fairly large piece of white CS, die cut a tree
  • The waste will be used as a stencil/mask

  • Lay the waste/stencil/mask on top of a piece of White CS
  • With stipple brush apply Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress inks to color in the tree
  • Remove the mask
  • Using the stipple brushes and the Distress inks, add more color onto the white CS--blue for sky, greens for leaves and add to the card front

  • Add the White die cut tree to the card allowing the "shadow" of the tree peek out
  • Stamp a sentiment with Rich Cocoa ink and tear out
  • Add a ribbon tied in a knot and some tiny pearls.

And, now for the Spooky card!

Materials:
Willow tree die -Memory Box
Stamps: A wood/tree Grain stamp, Halloween Owl-Warmest of Wishes Set from Stampin' Up, Sentiment from A Muse Studios
CS: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Black, and Cream all from Stampin' Up
Ink: Chocolate Chip-SU: Toffee Crunch-Memento
Orange Marker
Owl Punch-Stampin' Up
Spellbinders die to cut sentiment
Black satin Ribbon

Instructions:

  • Make a card base from black CS and layer with Soft Suede
  • On the Crumb Cake CS stamp the wood grain stamp with Toffee Crunch ink
  • Die cut the tree from the wood grain stamped piece and add to the card front

  • Stamp the Owl with Chocolate Chip ink and punch out
  • Color the treat bag with orange marker
  • Add to tree branch with dimensional adhesive
  • Stamp and die cut the sentiment

I really loved working with this fun Willow Tree Die Cut !!  And, I have showed how easy it was to make a Summer card and a Fall card with the same die.  I will be using it to create a few more Halloween cards and Fall cards and lots more. Thanks to Bibiana and Memory Box!
