Large Colorful Floral Cards with Pieced Backgrounds

Hello Everyone,

Here I am back today with the final post showcasing the pieced background cards.  As you can tell by how many cards I made, I really liked this technique.  I found that I could really get creative with the focal points and embellishments.

Here is how I made the backgrounds.

The background was created by cutting strips of decorative paper and laying them down on an adhesive sheet.  The backgrounds were then cut to size.  I had fun with this background technique and made a lot of cards using them.  I was also able to use up lots of my decorative paper scraps.

Flowers are colored with Copic markers.

Embellishments for this card: pearls, lace, die cut circles

Embellishments: Rick rack, ribbon, die cut circles

Embellishments: lace trim, pearls, die cut circles

Embellishments: pearls, rick rack, ribbon, die cut circles

I sure hope you enjoyed the journey.  I shared all of the pieced background cards with you over the past six weeks!!!  Let me know if you like this technique in the comments.  Would love to see what you make too.  Have a happy day!!

Floral all Occasion Cards with Pieced Backgrounds

Hello Everyone,

Here I am shamelessly bringing you more of my pieced background cards.  I did say I made a ton of these cards.  The backgrounds just looked so cool I could not stop making them.  LOL

The background was created by cutting strips of decorative paper and laying them down on an adhesive sheet.  The backgrounds were then cut to size.  I had fun with this background technique and made a lot of cards using them.  I was also able to use up lots of my decorative paper scraps.

The first two cards use large die cuts as focal points.  Love the aqua color scheme!

The next cards have a stamped large flower as the focal point.

Stamp: You've Got This from Stampin' Up retired

Flowers were colored with copic markers.

This card will be used for a wedding or anniversary card.  Therefore, I added a pretty ribbon/lace trim.

Please stop in again next time for the last post showcasing the pieced backgrounds.

See you then!

Happy Easter Cherry Blossoms and Swallows

 Hello Friends,

Breaking into the posts of my striped background cards to post a couple of the Easter cards I made.

Each card has essentially the same layout.  I alternated between ovals and rectangles for the die cut background for layering the cherry blossom branch.  I stamped and die cut swallows to add to each card.

Lots of pastel colors were used for inks, papers, and cardstocks.

Stamps: Soaring Swallows from Stampin' Up
Die Cuts: Swallows and Branch dies from Stampin' Up; Rectangles and ovals from Spellbinders

Really fun card to make. Although, the cherry blossoms required a bit of patience to glue.  I used Tacky Glue applied with a toothpick.

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter and Happy Spring.

See again next time for more of my striped background cards.  Have a lovely day.
