Near the Sea

Hello Everyone!
It is Summer!!  Plenty hot here in Michigan, USA. 90 degrees today.  I did quite a bit of yard work today.  Now, I am inside with the air conditioning and having fun making cards.  Today, I made a Summer theme card for the

This card is for week three and the theme is anything and everything Summer.
Technique Junkies stamps must be used on the projects.

This sweet girl is spending time on the beach and forgetting all her troubles.
I used a color pallet the says sand and sea to me: White, blue, and coral pink.

Stamps used:
Beach Girl SD103
By the Sea  (set of six) SS060
Bold Shells S687

To make card:
1)  Stamp Beach Girl on glossy white CS ( this stamp has a lot of detail and this        is how I obtained the best impression).  I stamped with Black Soot Distress          ink.  This ink worked well because it is a very wet ink.  Just make sure to let        the ink dry before handling the piece.
2)  Die cut image.

3)  Make a card base from lite blue CS and layer with coral pink CS.
4)  Stamp the sentiment onto the coral pink CS with Black Soot ink.
5)  Make the shell background by stamping Bold Shells on blackboard CS with          Versa Magic ink, Cloud White.  Make sure ink is completely dry before                handling.
6)   Layer all pieces and add blue tulle and pink ribbon

This image really make me long for about a week at the seaside.  All that fresh air......Oh how dreamy.

So glad you stopped by today.  Happy Summer!!

Technique Junkies-Dreamy Mermaid

Hello Dreamers!
We are having lovely summer weather here in Michigan, USA.  Just the perfect weather for sending a beach/sea themed card to a special someone.  The Technique Junkies June Release  collection is full of  gorgeous beach themed stamps!! I used several of the new stamps and beachy colors to create my dreamy mermaid card.

Materials List:
Stamps: Batik Shell Swirls and By the Sea (Set of 6) from Technique Junkies
Ink: Cameo Coral (retired Stampin' Up); Brown; Tattered Rose Distress
CS: White Textured; Cameo Coral (Stampin' Up)

Make It:

  • Make a card base from Cameo Coral CS
  • On white textured CS, stamp the Batik Shell Swirls with Tattered Rose ink
  • Stamp the Mermaid (from By the Sea Set) with Cameo Coral ink
  • Stamp the sentiment (from By the Sea Set) with brown ink
  • Add to the card base

Stamping the Batik Shell Swirls stamp on the textured CS makes such a soft and romantic background.  So lovely! The By the Sea Set also has several other beach/sea sentiments!  A great set for card makers.  I am always looking for sets with nice sentiments for my all occasion cards.  So, really enjoying this set!

So glad you stopped by for a little beachy relaxation.  I will see you later in the week for more cards and projects. Lots going on in Dreamland this month.  So, have a super day and see you again soon.  Love ya

Beach Themed Mini Mini Cards

Hi Dreamers!
Since I have been working so hard in my yard/garden, I was thinking a nice vacation by the sea would be just what I needed.  Well, I don't think I will be going anytime soon.  LOL!  But, I can make some Beach inspired projects!!  I picked up a new stamp set called Beach Babes from Rogue Redhead Designs.   I could not wait to try out these fun stamps.  I made a bunch of mini "Scraplings".  A Scrapling is a folded card that measures 1.5 x 4.25 inches (See Rogue Redhead challenge here)  Take a look at my Beachy Keen minis.

Let's look at them in close up view:

  • All stamping was done with Rich Cocoa ink from Memento.
  • The two little darlings were colored with Copic Markers.
  • I added a narrow ribbon and tiny pearls.
  • I used a soft green CS for the folded base with a layer of baby blue CS.

  • I stamped the border stamps on white CS and distressed with Antique Linen and Pumice Stone Distress ink.
  • I stamped the sentiment and added a sheer ribbon

  • The cranes are colored with watercolor markers.
  • Distress edges with Forest Moss and Antique Linen inks
  • Add narrow ribbons and tiny pearls

  • Die cut images and distress edges
  • I added some small scale DP on two of the cards.

These minis were really fun to make.  And, as their name "Scraplings" implies, I was able to use  papers and CS from my scrap basket.   I think the mini cards would be great on top of a package or tucked in a small gift bag.  Or, I could make a few envelopes to fit the cards and hand deliver.  Aren't they just so cute!??

Challenges for my Beachy Keen Mini Cards
Rogue Redhead Designs: Scraplings or Moos--mini cards
Crafting Musketeers: pearls and ribbon
Cupcake Craft: anything but square.
Incy Wincy: summer lovin'
City Crafter: cooling colors
Paper take weekly : anything goes

We have been having lots of rainy weather here in good old Michigan, USA.  I snapped this photo of a rainbow the other day.  Pretty!

I have more summer themed cards to share with you over the next few weeks.  The bug cards I mentioned will be posted soon.  I also have two super cute Summer Mice cards coming up.  Lots of summer fun!!!  I hope you are having a great day!  Love ya.
