Simple Card Layout

Hello Everyone,
Been busy working in the yard getting new plants in and seeding the vegetables.  All is coming along nicely.
Today, I have a simple layout that really is one of my favorites.  I use it again and again.  This layout is also great for using all your scraps.  And, only requires cutting two pieces of decorative paper. Which are then glued to a card base.

I made quite a few cards and I will break the photos up into two posts.

A pretty birthday card:

This layout also makes a lovely sympathy card.  I added a die cut flower and a pretty ribbon to complete the card.

Check back later for more of this layout! See you then.  Hope your day is great.

Floral Sympathy Card

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to share today's cards to illustrate that any stamp can be used to make a Sympathy card.  Several stamps were used in the cards: A background type from Stampendous, a tag from Impression Obsession, and a sentiment from Stampin' Up.

The leafy background was stamped multiple times on white CS.  The tag stamp happened to really coordinate with the back ground leaf....one of life's nice coincidences.   LOL

The leaf pattern was stamped on the inside too.  I think the inside design could also be used on another card (more CAS) for the outside.

Here is the same layout done in Greens.

See you next time for a group of all occasion cards with a water-can as the focal point.

Sympathy Card with Poppies

Hello Everyone,
Sharing a sympathy card today.  I know sometimes sympathy cards can be difficult. But, I find that If I used any stamp and keep the color scheme sedate, the cards turns out very appropriate.  You don't have to use black.  Just keep it soft.

This is a stamp and die set from Our Daily Bread. Large doily and polka dot background stamps from Stampin' Up.

Gold ink was used to stamp the background and distress inks added.  Shimmer Mist was sprayed onto the background.

The main image was stamped with gray ink and colored with copic markers.

Nice sentiment on the inside.

Thanks for stopping by!!  See again soon!!

Dragonfly Sympathy Card

Hello All,
Hot as heck here in Michigan, USA.  Taking a break from the outside to share this sympathy card I made for the death of a treasured family member.  The stamps are from Stampin' Up.  I used  gold and platinum pigment inks for the stamping.  I did not used embossing powder.  My ink pads were a little dry so the ink dried quickly.

I also made the envelope and decorated it.  This is the front of the envelope below.

Embellishment on the back of the envelope:

The dragonflies were die cut from a gold metallic paper and I used gold satin ribbon.

  Inside of card:

I will be back with more of the cards I made using dry embossing.  See you then!!

Pretty Sympathy Card

Hello Everyone!
One more week until the big move.  I am still packing like crazy.  I finished the basement today.  Tomorrow I will work on the attic.  Can't wait until we are in the new house and relaxing!  LOL  I have another sympathy card to share.  I also made this card for an order.

I used a soft blue green CS (one of my favorites-Sage Shadow a retired Stampin' Up color--still have a couple sheets of it).  And decorative paper in soft green.   The Butterfly stamp is from Stampin' Up.

I added a punched butterfly too and some gold bakers twine.

A nice sentiment on the inside.  Don't be intimidated by sympathy cards.  Any stamp will work.  I just like to keep the colors soft.

Well, I have to run.  Still lots to do tonight.   I hope you are having a great day!
Stay tuned this month for more of the 31 Days of Halloween sponsored by Lost Coast Designs!!

See you soon.  Love ya.

Butterfly Sympathy

Hi Dreamers!
Been busy moving house.  I will be popping in now and then with projects.  But, I think all the crafting supplies will be packed shortly.  I have posts scheduled for October with lots of scary stuff --31 Days if Halloween event on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Blog.  And, the new Vintage Stamping Challenge.  So check that out.

Today, I have a sympathy card I made for an order.

I stamped and die cut the butterfly (Stampin' Up) from white CS.  I used soft ink colors in yellow, green and blue.  And added a layer of DP.

I punched an extra smaller butterfly (Martha Stewart punch) for more interest and added a narrow ribbon.

Inside, a layer of the same DP and a sentiment.

See you soon.  I better get going.  Mountains of stuff to pack.  We have lived in this house for 25 years, so you can image all that has accumulated.  Have a great day!! Love ya.

Pretty Sympathy Card with Doily

Hello Dreamers,
Been crazy here.  Our house in on the market.  Spending most of my time focusing on that process and cleaning my house.  Yikes!  Not much time for creativity.  I do, however, have a pretty Sympathy card to share that I made recently.  I used soft greens and yellows for a calming feel.   I added some of the DP to the envelope too to make it extra special.

Markers (I used Distress Markers from Ranger) were used to ink the stamp. Which was then stamped on White CS.  I added lots of layers and a pretty white lace doily.

The same CS and DP layers were repeated on the inside with a sentiment.

***A few super fun Challenges for my Sympathy with lace doily
Shopping Our Stash: layer it on me
Try it on Tuesday: Sending you Flowers
Love To Scrap: anything goes
Mod Squad: lavender and/or lace

Well, I better shut off this computer and get going. Lots of things on the to-do list.  I hope you are having a great day!!  Love ya.

Sympathy Cards

Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to pop in and say hello and post  a few ideas for sympathy cards.  I know that sometimes they can be hard to make.  I like to use soft colors and natural elements...like flowers or butterflies.  I made these for a card order.

Card #1

Two embossing folders were used for this card.  I applied Distress ink to the bird and then layered.

Card #2

The background is a DP from K & Company; the stamp is from Hero Arts.

Challenges for my Sympathy cards:
Brown Sugar: anything goes
Jo's Scrap Shack: anything goes
Just add Ink: just add texture
Sister Act: anything goes

I hope that gives you a few ideas for making sympathy cards.  I will be back on Monday with a new challenge with Love to Scrap with a Thanksgiving card.  See you then and have  great weekend.  Love ya

Masculine Sympathy Card and a Bonus Card

Hi Dreamers!
I have been busy in the craft studio making cards all week.  I have decided to make some more charity cards.  I am making cards for two charities this month---More on that in later posts.

Last week I, unfortunately, needed a sympathy card for a good friend whose mother passed away.  I wanted it to be masculine,of course.  I picked some dark decorative paper and did a little stamping on it.  And, added a die cut with sentiment.    I made a second card with my working sample.  I thought I wanted a tree on this card, but I did not like the tree.  The piece with a tree, however did make a nice smaller card (at the bottom of this post).

Materials:
CS: Gray
Decorative Paper: Brown (K&Company), Stripe, textured medium and light gray (the solids were on the reverse of the stripe)
Stamps: all from Stampin' Up

Instructuions:

  • Make a 5 x7 inch card from gray CS
  • Add a strip of the striped DP
  • On dark brown DP stamped the diamond background stamp with a dark brown ink

  • Die cut two labels from the textured DP
  • Stamp the sentiment on the light gray label
  • Layer the labels on top of each other and add to the card front

Bonus Card:
This is the card I made with my sample.  I added a tree stamp as well as the diamond background stamping.
CS used: teal -Bazzill; Chocolate Chip and Black - Stampin' Up.  So, a nice litttle bonus card from the left overs.

Challenges:
613 Avenue: anythign goes + use your stash
Fashionalbe Stamping: anything goes
That Craft Place: anything goes
Cards 4 Guyz: nature
Bloggers challenge: sympathy

Next time I will have a shabby chic card for you!!  Stayed tuned for that.  Hope you are having a great day.  See you soon.  Love ya.
