Fancy Wedding Cake with Pieced Background

 Hello Friends,

Back with another set of cards that have a pieced background.

The background was created by cutting strips of decorative paper and laying them down on an adhesive sheet.  The backgrounds were then cut to size.  I had fun with this background technique and made a lot of cards using them.  I was also able to use up lots of my decorative paper scraps.

The focal point on this card is a wedding/birthday cake.

Stamps and Die cut set: Happy Birthday to You from Stampin' Up

Colored with Copic markers

Since this is a wedding cake, I added lots of tulle.

The second card is for a birthday. I die cut the sprays from silver paper and tucked in around the flowers.

Post number three of my pieced backgrounds is up next time.  Hope you stop by to see what the next cards look like.  Give this background technique a try. It is quite easy and has lots of possibilities.

See you next time

Karen

Fine Art Stamp and Handmade Background with Lost Coast Designs

Hello Everyone,
Super busy here with all those things were call, "Life".  Taking a few moments to post a card made with a art/collage type stamp from Lost Coast Designs.  I made a background with spray inks and stamped with Distress inks.  Have a look.

Materials List:
Stamps: Patricia Collage from Lost Coast Designs
Ink: Peacock Feathers and Bundled Sage Distress ink
Spray inks
Stencil
CS: white, aqua, and dark aqua
Wide Satin Aqua Ribbon
Peacock Blue Tulle
Small Pearls

Make It:

  • Make a base card from Aqua CS
  • On white CS, use stencils and spray ink to create background paper--I spray the stencil and then turn it over and spray again to get the diffused look.  Cut a piece to size
  • Stamp Patricia Collage with Bundled Sage on the outside edges of the stamp and Peacock Feathers on the inside area
  • Stamp on White CS
  • Add a layer of dark CS and add to card
  • Wrap tulle around card
  • Tie ribbon in knot and wrap around card
  • Add small pearls

I just love these fine art inspired stamps.  They are so dramatic and make such a nice project. Of course, I love it paired with my favorite color - aqua.  Thanks for dropping in today.  I hope you have a super day.
