Masculine Birthday Cards

Hello Blogging Friends,
I needed two masculine Birthday cards this week.  I pulled out my Artistic Outpost stamps and used one of my fav techniques: Stamping on tissue paper.  Also called Faux Silk.    (I did a tutorial on the Blockheads Blog for this technique.)  I used a piece of rusty brown tissue that I had in my stash.

I dry embossed a piece of dark brown CS and layered it on the Rust card base and the K & Company DP.  I stamped on the tissue with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink and, layered with black CS.  I am not crazy about stamping with the distress inks as a rule, but the Black  Soot is the exception.  It stamps really well on smooth and rough surfaces.  Try it, you'll like it!  I also stamped the pocket watch on Close to Cocoa CS (Stampin' Up).  I added some Diamond Glaze.

Love the texture of the tissue paper.  It looks all rustic and homey.  I also decorated the inside.  This card is for my ex-sister-in-law's father who had his 90th birthday.  And, in my excitement to get the card in the mail, I wrote on the inside before photographing it.  LOL.  Anyways, here is a shot of the inside.

And, I also needed another card for my neighbor's birthday.  I used the same techniques on this card.  I varied the colors but, still used the Black Soot to stamp.

This tissue paper is more grayish and I layered with black, blue and tan.  Now you have some ideas for masculine cards.
A Few really fun Challenges for my Masculine cards:
Artistic Outpost: August Referral Program
Simon Says Stamp and Show: Something Tim Holtz-I used his distress ink
Mark's Finest: Distressing-I distressed tissue by crunching it all up
Wee Memories: Masculine cards

Hope you are having a great weekend.  Love ya.

Celebrate Card in Soft Green

Hi Everyone,
I have a Celebration card today. I was inspired by a photo on the Serendipity blog.  Love all the green colors.  I used the color scheme from the photo and the circle theme.

Serendipity stamps were used on my card: Bouquet, Gift, and on the inside, Wedding Cake.  The bouquet was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink (Stampin' Up).  I colored the images with markers and a blender pen.

I cut the circles with a Spellbinders die.  The papers are all from SEI.   I added a great, big white satin bow and some silver pearls.  I think I will use this card as an anniversary or a wedding card.  Here is a look at the inside.

So, just a nice, bright card.  Hope you are having a great day!  Have a super weekend.  Love ya.

TAG-stravaganza! With Blockheads Stamps

Hi Everyone,
It's a TAG-stravaganza today!  (I made up that word and it means lots of tags.  LOL )  I made three tags using a new Blockheads Paper Arts stamp set called Household-Sewing.    This is what the whole set looks like.

For my tags, I used the three different scissor images.   I had some pre-cut tags in my stash and just started stamping.

Materials:
Versamark Pad
Galaxy Gold Pigment Ink- Brilliance
Ranger Distress Inks: Tattered Roses, Vintage Photo, Milled Lavender, Faded Jeans
Ranger Distress Stains: Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo
Pre-Cut Tags or Make your own
Embossing Powder from Ranger: Gold Superfine, Clear Superfine
Ribbon, lace, gems, and pearls

TAG #1

Images were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold Superfine Powder.  I distressed the whole tag with Milled Lavender.  The edges were distressed with Faded Jeans Distress ink.   I added some lace pieces, an aqua ribbon, and various sized pearls.  Here is a close up.  I love the lavender and blue together, it is so dreamy!

TAG #2

Images were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold Superfine Powder.  I distressed the whole tag with Tattered Roses and the edges with Vintage Photo distress inks.  Here is your close up.

I added pink lace, a brown satin ribbon, and pearls.  The sentiment is from the  Flowers-Daisies Stamp set.

TAG #3

The scissors were stamped with Galaxy Gold Pigment ink and heat embossed with Clear Superfine Powder.  I used the new Distress Stains to color this tag-Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo.  The stains come in a bottle with a sponge top.  The stain is applied with the sponge top onto the paper.  I used the Vintage Photo on the edges.  The stains are very wet and require drying time.  You could use a heat gun, but I did not what to re-heat my embossed images.  So, I let this tag air dry.   I added green polka dot ribbon, black lace, and black gems for accents.  Close up:

I hope you have enjoyed today's TAG-stravaganza!  There is still plenty of time to enter the Blockheads Faux Fabric Technique Challenge on our Facebook Page.  It runs until August 21.

You have a great day, now.  Take some time to stamp a little something.  Love ya.

By the Sea Shore: Memories

Hi Everyone!
I received some new Design Team stamps from Estelle at The Stampsmith last week.  Oh boy, am I loving it!!  My project today uses one of the images from the Flapper # 3 Full Sheet.  Take a look at all the lovelies in this set.

I have used the bathing beauty for my project.  I was thinking that I wanted my card to look more like a scrapbook page.   I thought this image was just great for a beachy theme.  I used blues and soft browns.

The blue CS is from Stampin' Up and the Tan is from Bazzill.  I stamped the image with black dye ink on glossy white CS.  I layered the image with black CS.  I stamped a Sand Castle (Inkadinkado) in the background on blue CS with Basic Gray ink (SU).  The shells (SU) were stamped on the tan CS with Basic Gray ink.  Tip: I used a textured Tan  CS for one of the layers.  I also wanted to tie the shells in with this CS.  But, stamping on textured CS does not always produce a good image.  My solutions was to flip the CS over and use the smooth back side.  My images turned out great.  Just a little tip from your Auntie Karen. LOL

To the stamped shells, I added some Blush Blossom ink (SU).  I wanted them to have that pinky color that real shells have.  On the scallop shell, I drew along the lines with a pink marker.  the blue on one of the shells is Faded Jeans Distress Stain.  I added a polka dot ribbon.  And here is a peek at the inside.

Pop over to the Stampsmith Design blog and check out more Stampsmith inspiration.  And, there is still time to enter the Stampsmith Color Challenge.  The Challenge colors are: Teal and Yellow.  Have a great day!  Love ya.

Stamp Show Goodies

Hi Stamping Buddies!
I have pictures of all the goodies I picked up at the Heirloom Stamping Show over the weekend.   I stopped in to say hello to Mitra at the Impression Obsession booth.  I picked up some fabulous stuff from her.  Already used some of my new IO stamps here.

I visited the DeNami booth and another of my  favorites, Endless Creations.  I picked up a Cuttlebug folder and a Just Rite handle from a general crafts booth.

I added to my Copic collection.  And, found some cool Steampunk styled images from American Art stamps.  And, a humorous image.

And, here is the mother load-  all the unmounted rubber. I stopped by some of my fav's -Lost Coast Designs, Stamp Camp.  And found a new vendor that had lots of Victorian images - Stampland Chicago.
I was so psyched when I found this wood mounted image of Steampunk goggles from Judi-Kins.

I have the rubber all mounted on cling cushion, but I am still working on getting them cataloged and in binders.  We went and had a late lunch after the show.  We grabbed a large table so we could haul out all our purchases and show each other what we got. (It was impossible to stay together for the whole show because of the crowds.)    Hope you enjoyed checking out my load of goodies.  Have a great day!  Love ya.

Summery Card With Hot Colors

Hi Everyone,
I had a great time at the Heirloom Stamp show and will have pictures for you tomorrow of all my goodies.  Today, I used some of those new goodies to make this summer scene card.

Stamps: Petals Cover-A-Card (CC022)
Live, Love, Laugh Mailboxes (H1819)
both from Impression Obsession

I stamped the Cover_A-Card with Cantalope ink (Memento) on white CS.  The main image was stamped with Stazon ink.  I colored with markers using a blender pen.  I also watercolored with ink and a wet brush.

I used some bright and hot summer colors. The orange CS is from Bazzill, blue from TPC, and Ruby Red from Stampin' Up.  I did not use any DP, but created the background paper with the Cover-A-Card stamp.
For accents I added a Polka Dot orange ribbon.   I wrapped a piece around the blue CS and made a pleated piece that was glued to the side.  I used double sided tape to hold the pleats, but should have used Fabri-Tac glue.  I also added a sheer blue ribbon from Heidi Grace (a bit of blog candy from Cheryl at She  Stamps.  Thanks a bunch!)  Here is a close up of the ribbon accent.

Now, how about some challenges!!!
Impression Obsession: Orange
Cheerful Stamp Pad: Circles - I have a large sun on my card and lots of dots.
Reasonable Ribbon: Sizzling summer
Cute Card Thursday: No DP
Sentimental Sundays: Flowers and a Sentiment
Stamping for the Weekend: Spots and dots- polka dot ribbon and spotted background.

So, those are two of the new stamps I picked up yesterday from the Impression Obsession booth.  See you tomorrow for pic's of all my new stuff.  Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Love ya.
