Die Cut Bird Cards

Hello Everyone!
Today's post features cards made with some of the fun die cuts and punches we all have in our stashes.  Why not make them the focal point??  Why not indeed.  That is what I did on the following cards.  The bird die cut and bird punch are from Stampin' Up.

There is that patterned card stock again.  I really like the bold impact it makes.
I added some scalloped circles to this bird.

The diamond background was stamped and I added a long strip of washi tape here.

The sentiment was stamped directly onto the decorative paper with a dark ink.

Thanks for stopping by!   Leave a comment letting me know what lovely projects you have been working on!!  Have a great day!

For the Birds-Cards with Birds

Hello Everyone,
Thought I would share some bird theme cards today.   The first has a red, white and blue color scheme and a cute chicken.

Inside:

I used dry embossed pieces for the backgrounds on the last two cards.

Well, I think I will continue the bird theme for next time with two Owl-fully cute birthday cards.  See you then!!

Guest Designing - Paper Girls Challenge

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Dreaming and Creating!  Today I am Guest Designing for The Paper Girls Challenge Blog!!  The Girls have a fun challenge theme!  The theme for the next two weeks is:

BABIES

For my project, I made a sweet welcome baby card.  I stamped on  mixed media paper and watercolored with dye inks.  I thought the nest stamp would look cute with a tree background of some kind.   I decided on a tree trunk embossing folder.

Materials List:
Stamps: Pink Cat Studios
Ink: Stazon Jet Black; dye inks for water coloring
Paper: Strathmore Mixed Media Pad
CS: Almost Amethyst and Certainly Celery from Stampin’ Up
Embossing Folder: Tim Holtz
Ribbon and Pearls

Paint brush

Instructions:

  • Make a card from Amethyst CS
  • Dry emboss celery CS and add to the card base
  • Stamp the birds on Mixed Media paper with Stazon ink
  • Water color with a brush and dye inks -  get the brush slightly wet in water and pick up the ink
  • Add to card front
  • Tie ribbon in bow and glue to card
  • Add Pearls

Isn't this sweet!  Love how the tree embossing looks in the background.  Stop over to the Paper Girls Challenge blog and check out the other Design Team projects and link up a card of your own!  So glad you stopped by!!

Lost Coast Design Spring Challenge

Hello Everyone,
It is a busy day here in Dreamland!  Lost Coast Design's April Challenge starts today!  The theme for the month of April is:

Spring

Make a project using at least one Lost Coast Design or Carmen's Veranda stamp and link up on the Lost Coast Blog for a chance to win a gift certificate from Lost Coast Designs.

I used a new stamp from Carmen's Veranda to make a group of Spring cards.  I am sharing two of the cards today, and the rest a little later in the week.

Materials:
Stamp: Bird Square from Carmen's Veranda Stamps
Ink: Aged Mahogany Distress ink and black ink
CS: White; Gray; Cherry Cobbler (Stampin' Up)
DP: Cosmo Cricket
Small spray bottle with water

Instructions:

  • Make card from gray CS
  • On white CS, spray a very small amount of water
  • Note: Actually, the mixed media paper works better than regular CS and I used that on the other cards
  • Ink the stamp with Aged Mahogany distress ink and stamp into the water
  • Heat dry the card stock--make sure it is very dry before proceeding--I had to blot a little with a rag
  • Ink the stamp again with black ink and stamp directly over the fist stamping
  • Layer with Cherry CS and add to decorative paper
  • Tie ribbon and add to card base

The Second Card--

Materials:
Stamp: Bird Square from Carmen's Veranda Stamps
Ink: Aged Mahogany and Spun Sugar Distress ink
Paper: Mixed Media pad from Strathmore
CS: Kraft, tan, Cherry Cobbler
Bakers Twine

Instructions:

  • Make a card from tan CS and layer with Cherry Cobbler and Kraft
  • Stamp the Bird Square with Aged Mahogany ink--NO Water this time
  • Distress edges with Spun Sugar Distress ink
  • Wrap twine around and add to card base

Two fairly different looks with one pretty Stamp.  Check out all the "squares" from Carmen's Veranda here.  They are sooo cool.  Lots of wish list items!!
Can't wait to see your project!!
Hope you had a great weekend and check back for the other two Bird Square cards later in the week.  See you soon!  Love ya.
