Masculine Birthday Cards

Hello Blogging Friends,
I needed two masculine Birthday cards this week.  I pulled out my Artistic Outpost stamps and used one of my fav techniques: Stamping on tissue paper.  Also called Faux Silk.    (I did a tutorial on the Blockheads Blog for this technique.)  I used a piece of rusty brown tissue that I had in my stash.

I dry embossed a piece of dark brown CS and layered it on the Rust card base and the K & Company DP.  I stamped on the tissue with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink and, layered with black CS.  I am not crazy about stamping with the distress inks as a rule, but the Black  Soot is the exception.  It stamps really well on smooth and rough surfaces.  Try it, you'll like it!  I also stamped the pocket watch on Close to Cocoa CS (Stampin' Up).  I added some Diamond Glaze.

Love the texture of the tissue paper.  It looks all rustic and homey.  I also decorated the inside.  This card is for my ex-sister-in-law's father who had his 90th birthday.  And, in my excitement to get the card in the mail, I wrote on the inside before photographing it.  LOL.  Anyways, here is a shot of the inside.

And, I also needed another card for my neighbor's birthday.  I used the same techniques on this card.  I varied the colors but, still used the Black Soot to stamp.

This tissue paper is more grayish and I layered with black, blue and tan.  Now you have some ideas for masculine cards.
A Few really fun Challenges for my Masculine cards:
Artistic Outpost: August Referral Program
Simon Says Stamp and Show: Something Tim Holtz-I used his distress ink
Mark's Finest: Distressing-I distressed tissue by crunching it all up
Wee Memories: Masculine cards

Hope you are having a great weekend.  Love ya.
