Paris Lady Card with a Little Lace

Hi Everyone,
Happy Thursday. The weather is perfect here today in Michigan. I am in a lacey and beady kind of mood. So, I made this card using the Stampsmith stamp, Paris Eiffel Dress. I stamped the image on white glossy paper with black dye ink. I colored the image with Copics. I layered with black CS and some DP. I stamped a shadow square with Sage Shadow ink and stamped over top with an Eiffel tower and cut out. I added some velvet ribbon, black and cream lace, and lots of beads.

Product list:

Stamps: Paris Eiffel Dress from The Stampsmith; Shadow square and Eiffel tower from My Sentiments Exactly.

Inks: Tuxedo Black from Memento; Sage Shadow from Stampin' Up.

CS: Sage Shadow and black from SU

DP: K & Company, My Minds Eye.

Lace, velvet ribbon, and beads.

Detail shots so you can see the beads close up.

And, one more just for fun.

Oh, I guess that's all for me today. Don't for get that the first Stampsmith Challenge is on October 1st!!

Have a great day!

Take a ride in the Time Machine: Design Team Card

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR THE
"HANDMADE WITH A HOP" BLOG HOP!!!

Hello Friends,
The year is 1917. And a lot of things were happening. The author, Carson McCullers and jazz great, Dizzie Gillespie were born. Some things were not so good. Of course WWI was still raging. And that was the year the United States began Conscription (or the draft). And to publicize the conscription, the artist James Flagg, designed the famous "I Want You" Uncle Sam poster.

So, that is the topic I used for my Time Machine Challenge Design Team card. The challenge is happening over at the Stamping Vacation Challenge blog where there is a different challenge everyday. And, each entry will qualify you for the monthly drawing. This month the prize is a $25 gift certificate to Flourishes!!!

Uncle Sam wants You!

I think this would make a great July 4th card. I used a digital image of the poster, Real Red and Night of Navy CS (Stampin' Up). And I had some gingham DP from DCWV in my stash. I received the brads as a gift with purchase from Addicted to Rubber Stamps - so they came in handy. And I added some shinny ribbon. Okay, now what can your Time Machine come up with...join in the challenge and share your projects. Look forward to seeing your projects!

Love ya,

A full list of prizes and blog hop stops can be found here.

You should have hopped here from Corry's blog.
If you have gotten lost along the way, return to the beginning here.

My handmade embellishment is a flower made from Tulle. To make the
flower start with a long, narrow strip of Tulle (about 2 x 30 inches). Using long running stitches gather up the long edge.

When you get to the end it should look like this:

Now pull the thread tight and it should look like this. Do not cut the thread at this point . Take a few stitches to hold the two short ends together. Make several knots and now cut the thread. Adjust the gathers so they are evenly spaced.
Die cut two flowers and grab a fabric covered brad.

Stack the die cuts and brad. Add a little adhesive to hold together. Layer over the tulle flower and push the brad's prongs through the tulle. I like to punch the prongs through the card too. That seems to help hold the flower to the card. So here is your tulle flower.

You can use your flower to decorate a card, a scrapbook page, or a gift package. I used mine on a card . Here is my finished project.

I used an Audrey stamp -The Audrey Hepburn Set from The Stampsmith.
Sentiment is from Inkadinkado.
Papers: GCD Studios, SEI- Bissette Collection, Glossy White CS, and green Vellum from the Paper Comp.
Sizzix Die Cut- Flower Layers #3.

And of course, some detail shots for you.

YOUR NEXT STOP ON THE HOP IS DANA'S BLOG. So hop on over and check out Dana's handmade embelly and her prizes! Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget that Stamping Vacation has a different challenge everyday for all the challenge-a-holics out there. I include myself in that group. LOL.

I stamped the bird on Cameo Coral CS (SU) and paper pieced the wings. I die cut the oval and dry embossed the white CS. The card base is Blush Blossom CS (SU). I added some pearl stickers and a big white bow. Here is a detail.

Pink and Girlie Bird Card is in the following Challenges:

Thinking of you, Denise

Happy Wednesday!
Yesterday I said I would be back today with a card that had a hidden agenda. Well, that was kind of a play on words. I have a card today that is a hinged card with a hidden message. And, the reason for the card has been kept secret all week. All the Design Team Members at the Stamping Vacation Challenge blog got together and decided to make Thinking of You cards for our Team Leader, Denise Clark. So, this is your card Denise!! We all want to let you know how much we appreciate you. And, that we hope you have a lovely day today!

For the card, I used a Magenta stamp called Bird Tile. I watercolored it with H2O's and sprayed with Shimmer Mist. CS: Barely Banana, Certainly Celery (Stampin' Up); Light and Dark Aqua. Dp: DCWV. The sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps. Here is a detail of the Birdie stamp.
The hinge is hidden below the bow. Here what it looks like opened up.
And a detail of the hidden message.

The card opens up in the regular manner with another little sentiment inside and a hand written message to Denise. I have also put this card in the snail mail for her to enjoy.

All my fellow design team members will be posting "Denise" cards to their blogs too. If you would like to check out their creations, here is a list of their blogs. And, join us by posting your own "Someone who needs a hug" card in the "To Who" Stamping Vacation challenge and be eligable for the $25 certificate to Flourishes.

Stampsmith Celebration!

Hi Everyone,
I am celebrating today! What is she celebrating you ask? I have been asked to join the Stampsmith Design Team. Hooray!! I will be designing cards and having fun with the ladies over at the Stampsmith Blog. And you have to check out the fabulous art stamps at The Stampsmith online store . I have used them in several of my previous postings, so scroll down and look for the Audrey and Coffee Gal cards. If you like movie stars, you will love their stamps too. Check them out. They have some new vintage Christmas sets that are to die for.

Okay, so my cards for today were made for the Stampsmith Yahoo Group's RAK's (random acts of kindness). I used the Ballerina stamp (another of Chris' Mother's stamps (thanks Elaine). I made a series of four cards with the same image and used different colors and papers. All the Ballerinas are stamped with black dye ink (Memento). The first uses lavender cs (Stampin' Up) and purple dp (Provo). I distressed all the layers with white and pink pigment inks (Color Box). I distressed the image with Vintage Photo (Ranger) and black inks. And added some purple brads.

The next three cards are all done in browns and a little green. I heavily distressed the edges of the Ballerina image with Vintage Photo for the pieces I used with the brown papers. Dp is from K & Company.

Dp is from Stampin' Up and I added a sheer brown ribbon.

This card uses a leopard print shopping bag I got from somewhere and thought would be cool to save. I did a lot of things that were framed and liked to use unusual papers for the dust cover on the back. But, I used this one for my card. I added mustard brads.

All the cards have a birthday sentiment on the inside and will be sent out. Since they are all being mailed, they are all standard A2 size. I enjoyed making some smaller cards for a change. I seemed to have been making lots of very large cards. So, don't forget to come and see me over at the Stampsmith Blog. They will be introducing me today or tomorrow.

Challenges for the Ballerinas:
ABC - Challenges: D is for Distressing
Belli Challenge: B for Brads (old mustard brads)
Alphabet Challenge: U for unused Stash- Leopard print bag, Dk brown CS
Res- Q - Challenge: Music inspiration piece, Inspiration #1
Stamping Vacation: Home Sweet Home - Retro Style
Stamping Vacation: NO NO Challenge - no sparkle- the brown cards have no sparkle.

Guess that's all for me today. I have to run some errands and stop at the craft store. The weather is lovely and cool here. It is such a relief after that horrible hot summer. Now, you make me happy by having a great day. And, make someone else happy by sharing a smile.

The Funniest Challenge Theme Yet

Hi Gals,
Okay, what is the funniest challenge theme yet??? It is to make your own tombstone. I thought it was funny. My husband thought it was kind of creepy. I wrote on my tombstone what I hope mine would say.....at some point in the very very distant future. LOL. Where is this challenge, you might be asking yourself. At Stamp It Crazy challenge blog. I colored the tree with Copics and added the night sky with Night of Navy (Stampin' Up) and black inks. I wrote on the tombstone with a white gel pen.
Stamps: Candy Corn Tree - Impression Obsession; sentiment - GCS Artstamps
Edge Punch: Martha Stewart
Copics
This card qualifies for no other challenges. LOL.
Short and sweet today. Have a great day!!

Pretty Fairy with Basic Grey

Hi Everyone,
I had a nice birthday yesterday. Lots of phones calls from friends and family with happy wishes. So sweet of them. And, today I have a pretty card with a Stamping Bella stamp. Love their stamps. Her name is Anise Ketto and she is paper pieced. I pieced her dress, wings, the centers of the flowers, and leaves of flower on right. I stamped her on a solid DP and layered with another. I sprayed this with Shimmer Mist for a bit of glitter. I cut strips of a printed DP and glued them down on the dark purple paper. I distressed the center image and the strips with distress ink.

Materials List:

Stamps: Anise Ketto - Stamping Bella; flower - Print Works Collection

Ink: Stazon; Fired Brick - Ranger

DP: Basic Grey Kioshi and Wisteria Collections

CS: Pale Plum - Stampin' Up

Shimmer Mist

Metal Dots

Detail shot. Can you see the shimmer mist? And you can see how I used different paper for each part of the image.

Anise Ketto's Challenges:

Basic Grey Challenges: Paper Piecing and Basic Grey paper

Flutterby Wednesdays: Pink and a butterfly, angel or fairy

Crafts and Me Challenge: Sparkle and gems

Crafty Our Days Away: Girly and glitter

Stamping Vacation: Get the music in me challenge - Black Magic Woman

Well, that's about it for me today. I have to get the stuff together to make 40 Thanksgiving cards for Card Ministry on Monday. I have to cut everything then the gals with stamp and assemble. I have already designed the card so I just have to do the prep. Oh, and I have to come up with a few anniversary cards too. Have a great day friends!

Very Vintage Design Team Card

Hey Everyone,
Today is my Birthday. Happy Birthday to me. I am fifty years old today. Some would wonder why I would want to celebrate such a thing. Well, I am happy to have made it this far and I will carry on living each day to the fullest. And, what makes me feel fulfilled? Need you ask? Vintage! LOL. The Happy Birthday post is a Very Vintage Design Team Project for The Stamping Vacation Challenge Blog.

So get distressing everyone. The Very Vintage challenge theme is: POSTCARDS (You can use an entire post card, pieces of a postcard or a postcard stamp)
This challenge is due by October 7th.

All entries qualify as an entry in the monthly gift certificate drawing - $25 from Flourishes!!!

My project is not a card. It is a framed piece. I strayed from the card format because I needed more "scope". I just knew that the card would end up being gigantic because I wanted to put so many things on it. The framed piece is a "traditional" collage. Layer, layer, and layer. So of course, this project requires lots of photos. I don't want you to miss any of the details. LOL. Here is the full shot. You can see that I used a wood frame. I rubbed some stain on it to freshen it up. I just thought it needed that great big bow on the top. I actually do have this project displayed on a side table in my living room.

Okay, so how did I make this?? Well, I started with a Mustard piece of CS. I stamped various vintage images and tore them out. (If you follow my blog you may remember my trip to Florida this spring. The one where Chris and stayed with her mom. There images are some more of the ones I stamped while staying there. So, thanks again Elaine.) I arranged the images so that they overlapped. They were glued down with Decoupage medium and left to dry. When dry go over with one coat of Decoupage Medium. To unify the images, distress with Vintage Photo ink. Then stamp over the whole thing with Scratches cover-a-card using Cajun Craze pigment ink. Heat set. Trim to desired size and add all the lovely accents you can find!

Hint: Do not be tempted to add the accents with glue dots. You will be very disappointed every time you walk in the room and see another one on the floor. Wisdom speaks from experience. Use a good craft glue like Tacky or Fabri Tac.

Materials List:

Stamps: Large Travel Image and Milano -Treasure Cay; Lady w/ big Hat - Acey Duecy; Post Card - Stamping Sensations; Buttons and Lady - Acey Duecy; Scratches Cover-a-card- Impression Obsession.

DP: Brown Script - DCWV; Music - Penny Black;

Royal Decoupage Medium

Inks: Vintage Photo and Iced Tea - Ranger; Cajun Craze Pigment - Stampin' Up.

Accents: Clock - Blue Moon; beads, vintage jewelry, buttons, frame - all stuff I had laying around.

So, since I have so many jewels on this piece I also entered it in the

My Time To Craft Challenge- Jewels.

Creatalicous Challenge - Vintage

So dig through you stash and make your own Post card project. Hope you enjoyed my Birthday post and go ahead and celebrate too. We all need more reason to celebrate!!

Love ya,

Karen

Vintage Arch Tag

Hi Girls,
I'm going vintage again! Just love it and can't help myself. I have a vintage project today that stresses distressing. LOL. I used an arch template to cut the tag. I stamped and stamped on it and then rubbed it with gold Perfect Pearls. I used two different stamps under the Lady stamp. I layered CS and lots of lace. I added s0me hardware and pearls. Take a look.
Materials List:

Color Combo Design Team Card

Hi Gals,
I have another Design Team card for you today. It is for Stamping Vacation's Challenge Blog Color Combo. The colors this month are:
Teal
Purple
Black
Click over and check it out. (And, become a follower and mention my name.) If you make a card for this or any other challenge (there is a different one everyday!!!) you will be entered in the monthly drawing.

This month the prize is a $25 certificate to Flourishes!! Have you ever seen any of their stamps??!! They have some really great images. They are carry a full line of supplies too. Okay, so here is my Design Team card using the required colors.

I used a technique I just love.....Stamping right on the Decorative Paper. I love the effect you achieved by doing this. It is so dreamy. I stamped the butterflies and a few flowers on the DP. Then cut the DP to size and layered. I added some tulle, a vintage button and some beads.
Materials List:
Stamps: Butterflies - Serendipity Stamps; Flower - Stampin' Up; sentiment on inside of card- Custer's Last Stamp, Inc.
DP: K & Company
CS: Perfect Plum and Black - SU
Ink: Perfect Plum, Not Quite Navy, Taken With Teal - SU
black tulle
Ribbon
Vintage Button
Beads

I added a detail shot where you can see the vintage button and beads.

I decorated the inside following the same theme and used a sweet sentiment.

Isn't that a sweet sentiment??!! It is great for me because I use a lot of butterfly stamps. Okay, so don't forget to make your challenge card. The Color Combo sounds difficult, but once you pull out some papers, the colors really go together easily. And, you could win the Flourishes gift certificate. And, you can check out fellow Design Team Member, Lorraine's card. It is Fab!

News Update:

Stamping Vacation will be holding a Blog Hop On September 25 and 26. There are over 10 Sponsors lined up. So you know what that means??!! Lots of prizes!! Put it on your calendar and hop along with us. We will all be showcasing our favorite handmade embellishments.

Have a great day!

Karen
