Just Chicken In!! Fun Cards for Operation Write Home

Hello Everyone!

I thought I would post two of the cards that went to Operation Write Home last week.  I also took a couple pics of the whole pile before the cards went into the shipping box.  Here are those pics.  I have them all sorted by card type (thinking of you, love, missing you, etc.....) and tucked into the envelopes.

Today's cards feature a bit of pun humor.   (Cluck, Cluck)  

Materials:

Stamps: Flaps My Wattle Stamp set from Marks' Finest; Chicken Sentiment 

Ink: Black dye and Rhubarb Stalk Memento; Real Red dye - Stampin' Up; Barn Door distress ink

Red Marker to color

CS: Real Red - Stampin' Up; Patterned - AMuse Studios

Chicken Wire Stencil - Crafters Workshop 

Gingham Ribbons

Instructions:

• Make a card from red CS
• On White CS, use the chicken wire stencil and Barn Door Distress ink to create the background
• Stamp the Chickens and Sentiment with Black ink
• Use Red marker to color wattles and feet
• Tie ribbon in a knot and wrap around White CS
• Add to card base

• Make card from patterned CS
• On White CS, stamp Chickens with Rhubarb Stalk ink
• Stamp Sentiment with Real Red ink
• Add to card base
• Wrap ribbon around card and tie in bow

Love To Scrap Challenge #28 Scraplift This

Hi Everyone!
Time for a new challenge at the  Love To Scrap Challenge!!  The theme for this challenge is a little different.  The theme is called Scraplift This.  The challenge is to pull elements from the scrapbook page and use them to create your own project.  You will find the scrapbook page on the blog post for the challenge.

For my Design Team Project, I used a soooo sweet image from Fred She Said.  I "lifted" the following items from the Scrapbook page for my card:

Materials:

Stamps: digital images from Fred She Said-- Real Burd Love and Sentiment (on inside of card) Hearts and Roses Set

Copic Markers: YR68, RV11, RV34,B00, B12, R35, BG75, BG72

CS: White; orange, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist - Stampin' Up and various colors to punch flowers

DP: My Mind's Eye - Dolled Up and Tangerine pads

Flower, Edge and Decorative label (on inside) Punch - Stampin' Up

Butterfly die: AMuse Studios

Brads

Blue Twill Ribbon

Instructions:

• Print out the digital image on white CS and let the ink dry thoroughly--make sure the ink is dry before coloring
• Make a card base 4.5" x 6.25" from orange CS
• Punch a Strip of blue CS with the edge punch and add to bottom
• Wrap ribbon around the DP and cover card base with DP's

• Color the Burds with Copic Markers
• Die cut the image and a piece of Bashful Blue CS
• Add to card front with dimensional adhesive
• Tie a bow from the ribbon and glue 

• Punch flowers from CS
• Layer the punched flowers and punch a hole through all layers
• Add a brad to each flower set
• Die cut the butterflies

• Add the flowers and butterflies to the card with dimensional adhesive

• Print out the sentiment for the inside
• Punch out and add to the inside with a few flowers and butterflies

Spring Colors on Stamped Backgrounds

Hi Dreamers!
Well, we had Spring here in Michigan for a few days and then we had snow on Monday!!  Just can't believe that we had snow in the middle of April.   We are supposed to warm back up tomorrow.  Crazy weather.  And, that is why I haven't posted any pictures of the garden yet this year.  There is nothing to photograph except lots of dead stuff that I did not cut down in the Fall.  Well, enough of that---let's get to the cards!!

I picked up some new things from Stampin' Up this month.  The stamps I used to make the background are all in one set called Petal Parade.  This is a fun set -- once you get stamping you can't stop.  I couldn't anyway.   I made three cards with my stamped backgrounds.

Materials:

Stamps: Petal Parade and Banner Blast from Stampin' Up; Large Sentiment from A Muse Studios

Inks: Distress Inks - Aged Mahogany, Victorian Velvet, Tattered Roses

CS: cream, yellow, wine, light coral

Edge punch, Decorative Label Punch, and Banner Punch - Stampin' Up

Large Scallop edge die cut - My Favorite things

Ribbons

Dry Embossing Folders - Cuttlebug and Stampin' Up

• I stamped the entire background on this card. 
• Wrap the ribbon around the edge of the stamped background piece ( layer ribbon with a strip of wine CS) and then add Background to the card base

• On this card, I added dry embossing, a punched edge and some banner flags.
• Wrap the ribbon around flat and tie a separate bow.
• Tuck the banner pieces up under the punched edge

• On this card, I placed the banners in a shape that I thought resembled a flower.

Pretty Little Doll Border -- Part 2

Hi Dreamers!

How is your weekend going?  Going great here.  We are finally having Spring weather here in Michigan.  I was able to open the windows for the first time on Thursday.  I sent off all my charity cards on Friday!  I am still working on a card order though.  But, today, I want to share two more of the Doll Border (Lost Coast Designs) cards.  Take a peek at the group photo.  (See the post of the other two here.)

Materials:

Stamp: Doll Border and Party Words both from Lost Coast Design

CS: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, and Blush Blossom --Stampin' Up

Decorative Paper: Ivory Prints - Canvas Corp ( card #1); Lost and Found Blush - My Mind's Eye (card #2)

Ink: Jet Black Archival

Ribbons

Card #1

Instructions:

• Make a card from Very Vanilla CS
• Stamp the Doll Border on Very Vanilla CS and trim to size
• Layer stamped Dolls with Black CS
• Cut strips of the Diamond pattern DP and add to card base
• Add stamped piece
• Tie ribbon around card

Love the 1930's feel of this stamp.  Doesn't it look cool in the cream/black color scheme??!  On to the next card.

Card #2

• Make a card from Blush Blossom CS and layer with DP
• Stamp the Dolls on Blush Blossom CS 
• Fussy cut one doll
• Layer a Black CS square with more DP and add the doll
• Add to the card

• Stamp the Sentiment on Blush Blossom CS and add to card
• Tie ribbon in bow and add to card

Butterfly Cards for Operation Write Home

Hi Dreamers,
I am back today with a few more of the Charity cards.  The cards will go to Operation Write Home and Card Care Connections.    I also made a few for my friend--and one or two for my own "to send" box.
The theme for today is: butterflies.  I went a bit crazy making butterfly cards.  I made lots of color variations, but I am just showing one of each here.  On the first card, I was inspired by a card in a Stampin' Up catalog.

New Design Team!! Love to Scrap Challenge!!

Guess what??!!  I am now a member of the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog Design Team!!  I have been entering the challenges since  Leslie started the challenge blog.  And, now I get to design with the team.  Soooo fun!!  Love to Scrap has great challenge themes and super sponsors.  A new challenge is posted every two weeks.

For my first Design Team Project, I made a pretty card in Spring colors using Sweet Stamps.

Materials:
Stamps: Bowl and Pitcher (886) and  Sentiment both from Sweet Stamps
CS: White, Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant all from Stampin' Up
Copic Markers: BV 02; BV20;BV04; Y02;Y13;Y26;(YG642  from Marvy)
Spellbinder's Grommet Tags
Ribbon- Certainly Celery (SU)
Decorative Tile Set Embossing Folder- Cuttlebug

The image was stamped on White CS and colored with Copic Markers.  I added lots of layers and a pretty ribbon the same color as one of the CS layers.

I die cut the two of the Grommet Labels one with stamped sentiment on White CS and one on a  piece of Amethyst CS.  I trimmed back the white layer to fit inside the Amethyst layer.  And then trimmed off the ends of the Amethyst layer.

I will be using the card as a Mother's day card for a friend.  I stamped a Mother's Day sentiment on the inside.

Pretty little Doll Border Stamp

Cutesy is as cutesy does...... Today's cards are very cutesy.  I started stamping this Doll Border stamp from Lost Coast Designs and thought it was so cute I just kept stamping and stamping....like I usually do.  LOL  I thought it had a really 1930's vibe.  So, I paired it with decorative papers that looked 30ish to me.   I made a bunch of these cards (multiples of each design).  I will share two of them with you today and the other two later.  

Materials: 

Stamp: Lost Coast Design Doll Border

Party Words

Ink:Jet Black Archival

CS: Blush Blossom (Stampin' Up)

Decorative Paper:  Lovely and Grace, Cherish Pads from Authentique

Ribbons

Instructions:

• Stamp the border stamp on Blush Blossom CS with Black ink.  This stamp is 8" inches long and 2 inches high.   Cut the stamping to the desired size
• Cover the card with decorative papers
• Add the Dolls-On card one, I cut narrow slivers of brown DP for a border to the Doll strip
• On card two- cut the stamping into a square and layer with two papers.  
• Add bows and sentiment
