Lost Coast Designs Funky Image!

Hi Dreamers,
Today, let's really delve into the dream world with this super funky image from Lost Coast Designs called Drag Queen.  LOL.  I know!  Funny name!   I made two versions with this image, one is paper pieced and the other is stamped on a background I made with Distress reinkers and Metallic Stains.  Check out the paper pieced version first.

I started with a background made with reinkers and Distress stains on this card too.  But, I also paper pieced the image here.  The DP's are from MME.  The first layer is canvas paper colored with Distress stains.

 I finished off the card with a bright yellow/orange ribbon, orange rick rack, and yellow rhinestones.

On the second project, I made the background with Victorian Velvet and Spun Sugar Distress reinkers, and Brass Metallic Stain.   The image is stamped with Versa Fine Onyx Black ink.

I girly-ed it up with some pink satin ribbon and buttons. The Purple CS's are from Bazzill.

Just For Fun Bird Cards - Hero Arts Stamp

Hi Dreamers!
How about a bit of whimsy today?!  I made three cards the other day just for fun.  I had picked up this cute Hero Arts stamps recently and wanted to try it out.  I just grabbed some backgrounds and started stamping.

I used Cobalt Archival Ink on all three cards.

I used a piece of CS that had been painted with Distress Crackle paint. Ribbon and CS from Stampin' Up.

I used a watercolored background for this card and die cut an arch tag.  Tiny Pearls were added to the background.

I stamped on white CS for the third card and added Stickles to the background and to the bird.

Aren't these fun?!!  I will put the cards in my box and they will be sent out to someone.

Grungeboard Pins

Hi Dreamers!
This month the Blockheads Design Team will be showcasing projects using Grungeboard.  So, for today, I have two pins made with grungeboard to share with you.  I used letters, a butterfly, and pre-cut striped shapes, and dots embossed grungeboard to build the pins.

 Materials List:

Grungeboard letters and shapes

Distress Inks- Vintage Photo, Barn Door, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw, Dusty Concord, Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans

Embossing Ink ( I used Emboss It -Ranger.  Versa Mark would work too)

Gesso

UTTE embossing enamel

Metallic Pen

 The first pin is called "B is for Butterfly"

"Art" Pin

Instructions:

• Coat all the pieces with gesso or white paint - something to to act a s a base coat.  Molly at the Blockheads store used Picket Fence Stain from Ranger.
• Let Dry
• Apply Distress ink to all the pieces.  I rubbed the pads across the pieces to get maximum coverage

1. "B" is Butterfly- Faded Jeans on base circle, Dusty Concord on B, Tumbled Glass on butterfly
2. "Art" Pin -Scattered Straw on square base, Spiced Marmalade on A, Fired Brick on R, Barn Door on T.

• Heat set the Distress ink
• Cover the pieces with Embossing Ink
• Heat emboss with UTTE embossing enamel

Nice glossy look with the UTTE

• Let the UTTE cool
• Distress each piece with Vintage Photo Distress ink--I found that this really bought the colors to life.  So, don't skip this step.

• Draw around the outside of the pieces for the "B is for Butterfly" pin with a metallic marker
• Glue the pieces to the base using a strong glue.  I used Fabri-Tac.  Hot glue would work too.
• Glue a pin to the back of each pin--I picked up the pins from the jewelry section of the craft store

Stampsmith Challenge for April!

Hi Dreamers!
Happy first day of April!!  And, that means a new monthly challenge on the Stampsmith Challenge blog.  Thanks to everyone that left challenge ideas in the comment section of the Challenge blog!  Barbara W and Stamper Sue both suggested Black/White with a splash of color.  So, guess what!!  That is the theme that has been selected for the month of April!

With a least one Stampsmith Stamp

I went to work and came up with my Design Team creation using a stamp from the "It's a Dog's Life" Full Sheet.  Of course I used black and white ---- with a splash of RED.  I made this card a Flap Fold design.

Here you can see how the flap extends out over the front.  The Sentiment is from the "Say It Like It Is" Full Sheet.

• Flap Fold Card Base: Cut a base 4 1/4" x 9 1/2" from CS
• Score at 4"
• Make the center piece large enough to overlap the front.  I made my center piece the size of the image plus four layers.  3 1/2" x 5"

• Stamp the puppy and kittens with black dye ink on glossy white CS.
• Layer with red and black CS
• The black/white DP is from My Mind's Eye

• Stamp sentiment with black dye ink on smooth white CS.  
• Add a red satin bow

Spring Bike Ride with Lost Coast Design

Hi Dreamers!
We are really having nice  Spring weather this weekend!  Got out for a nice walk in the afternoon and ran some errands later.  The temps got up into the high 50's!  So, seems like Spring is on the way!   So, lets take a bike ride today in Dreamland.  Today's project was made with a Lost Coast Design stamp called Bikes Border and measures 8" long.

This is a long narrow card that incorporates shadow stamping and heat embossing.

• Cover an acrylic block with Tan pigment ink (All inks from A Muse Studios) and stamp onto white CS
• Heat set the ink
• Ink the Bike Border with brown pigment ink and stamp over the shadow stamping.
• Heat emboss with clear embossing powder

• Layer with black CS 
• Tie black ribbon around a Kraft card base 
• Add a piece of polka dot DP from Canvas Corp.
• Add the stamped bikes.

Ready For Take Off -Steampunk Owl with Blockheads Stamps

Hi Dreamers!
Back today with a bit of whimsy.  To finish up our month of travel themed projects on the Blockheads Design Blog, I have made a fun card using one of my favs--the Steampunk owl from Blockheads Stamps.  He is ready to take off in his magical flying machine for places unknown!  I added a shimmery background  with some metallic distress stains.  

Materials List:

Blockhead Stamps: Steampunk Owl from Fringe Folktales set

Flyer from Victorian Inventions

Dot from Retro Shapes

Inks: Onyx Black Versa Fine; Black Soot and Frayed Burlap Distress ink

Distress Stains: Brushed Pewter Metallic and Pumice Stone

CS: white, Kraft, gray textured, Glossy Black

Watercolor Pencils

Black Wire

Black Brads

3-D Zots

Instructions:

• On a piece of Kraft CS, stamp the Flyer with Onyx Black ink
• Add shadowing under the Flyer with Pumice Stone Stain
• Add the shimmery sky above the Flyer with Brushed Pewter Stain
• Stamp the dots with Frayed Burlap Distress ink and distress edges with Black Soot
• Add to layer of glossy black CS
• Add brads to corners
• Add to gray card base with 3-D Zots

• On white CS, stamp the Owl with Onyx Black ink.
• Color with watercolor pencils
• Cut out the Owl
• Add to card with 3-D Zots
• Curl the wire and tuck under the Owl and sticking it into the 3-D Zots to secure

Oh, LOL.  Isn't this a fun card!?  Love this little Steampunk Owl!!

Paris in the Spring "Time"

Hi Dreamers!
Hope your weekend was great!   Mine was super fun with an all day card making event on Saturday.  Even though we had snow last night here in Michigan, USA, I wanted to share a Spring themed card with you today.  I used lots of Spring colored CS and a stamp of the Eiffel Tower from The Stampsmith's Paris Full Sheet.     I called this project Paris in the Spring "Time".  See why!

• I stamped the Eiffel Tower with a Kaleidacolor Pad - Creole Spice
• Then covered the image with Versa-Mark ink
• Cover with UTTE and heat emboss
• Add another layer of UTTE

Look at the cool effect you get with the UTTE!

• Layer the image with black and white CS
• Add to a white card base layered with green and yellow CS

• Tie the Eiffel Tower ribbon in  a big bow.  I bought this ribbon at Hobby Lobby and have been dying to try it out on something.  This project was prefect!!
• Add the clock with a piece of wire ---Paris in the Spring "Time"---get it!??!  LOL
• Add the yellow rhinestones to the background area. 

What a cheerful card!  This was a fun one to make.  And, I finally was able  to use this ribbon on something!!
