Spring Theme with Vintage Stamping Challenge

Hello Dreamers!
Time for a new theme on the Vintage Stamping Challenge!   The theme for the month of April is:

All Things Spring

Please make the focal point stamping--does not have to be vintage.  You may use any stamps.  The challenge is sponsored by Flonz Craft Stamps--one lucky entrant will win a $20 gift certificate.

For my design team project, I stamped a large tree with green ink.  The green ink reminded me of the intense green of the new Spring foliage on the trees.

Material List:

Stamp: Old Tree Engraving from Flonz Craft Stamps

Ink: Northern Pine and Rich Cocoa Memento

Decorative Paper: Blushing Rose Collection from Our Daily Bread

CS: peach and green

Buttons

Pearls

 Make It:

• Make a card from green CS and add a layer of peach CS
• Add a layer of green decorative paper
• On  polka dot decorative paper, stamp the tree by inking the leaves with orthern Pine ink and trunk with Rich Cocoa ink
• Add to card

•  Cut four groups of Roses from decorative paper and glue to corners of card

• Add three buttons below tree
• Add several tiny pearls around top of tree

Lots of Layers with Vintage Stamping Challenge

Hello Dreamers!
It is time for a new challenge over on the Vintage Stamping Challenge Blog!
The theme for the month of March is:

Lots of Layers  

At least 3 layers, please, on your project with stamping (no digis).  The challenge is sponsored by Flonz Craft Stamps and one lucky person will win a $15 gift certificate to the store.

I used a beautiful Flonz Craft stamp for my Lots of Layers project.

Materials List:

Stamp: Flowers Engraving from Flonz Craft stamps

Ink: Black Dye Memento

CS: Glossy White; Pink; Black; Peach

Hand made Background paper

Corner Punch from Martha Stewart

Paper Doily

Fabric Strips

Make It:

• Make a card from pink CS
• Wrap Fabric strip around a layer of background paper--this paper was made with a mono printing plate, stencils, embossing folder, and acrylic paints.  (Decorative paper could be substituted)
• Tie fabric in a bow
• Add the peach CS strip and paper doily

• Stamp the Flower Engraving stamp on glossy CS with black ink
• Add a layer of pink and black CS
• Punch the corners on a rectangle of black CS
• Glue the stamped piece to the black rectangle and add to the card

Vintage Stamping Challenge - February Theme

Hello Everyone!
Very busy day here in Dreamland.  Lots of challenges and a blog hop!!  Whew!  I am exhausted.  LOL  Scroll up and down for all the different posts today.  There are three.

Also a Note on Blogger Policy: Blogger has changed the Followers set up.  You now have to have a Google account to be a follower.  I have lost many of my Followers because those without Google accounts are being deleted.  Please follow me again and sign in with a Google account if you are one of the ones that have been deleted.  Thanks so much!!

Now, on to the good stuff--cards!!
The new Vintage Stamping Challenge theme for the month of February is:

Splatters and Drips

The challenge is sponsored by Flonz Craft Stamps and one random entrant will receive a $20 gift certificate!!
There must be some stamping on your project (no digis please) and follow the theme.

I made a Congrats card and added lots of splatters and drips to a dry embossed background.

Materials List:

Stamp: Swans on Lake Engraving from Flonz Crafts Stamps

Ink: Brilliance Pigment ink Galaxy Gold

Distress Stain - Tarnished Brass

Embossing Powder: Ranger Superfine Gold

Dry Embossing Folders: Stripes and Phrases from Darice

CS: Very Vanilla, Lost Lagoon, and Cool Caribbean from Stampin' Up; Metallic gold

Ribbon

Paint Brush

Dimensional Adhesive

Make It:

• Make a card from Lost Lagoon CS and add a layer of metallic gold CS
• Dry emboss a piece of Cool Caribbean CS with the Stripes folder
• To make the splatters and drips--on a craft sheet or plastic bag place a lot of the Distress stain from the dauber bottle.  Spray quite a bit of water onto the stain.  You want it pretty runny.  Pick up the watery stain with the brush and flick it onto the CS.  Repeat and let it dry.  Use a heat gun to set the droplets of stain.
• Wrap the ribbon around this background piece and then add to the card base

• Dry emboss the word Congratulations on the metallic CS and add to the card with dimensional adhesive

• Stamp the "Swans on Lake Engraving" with Galaxy Gold pigment ink and emboss with gold powder.  I used the superfine powder because this stamp has a lot of detail and I did not want to lose the detail in the heat embossing process.
• Add a layer of the metallic CS and add to the card

• Tie the ribbon in a bow

Close up so you can see how pretty this image is done in the gold embossing powder.  I think the secret is to use the superfine powder.   I will use this for a wedding or anniversary card.  I would also change out the sentiment and use this stamp for a sympathy card too.

Vintage Stamping Challenge - January

Hello Everyone,
Happy New Year!  This should be a great year.  We are really enjoying our new home and feeling like this is "home" now.  And, we are so close to family and friends.  We are keeping busy with all our visits and get togethers.

Now it is time for a new challenge with the Vintage Stamping Challenge blog.  The theme for the month is:

ANYTHING GOES / WITH YOUR NEW STASH

You must include some stamping on your project - no digis please.  Link your project up on the blog for a chance to win a gift certificate from Flonz Craft Stamps!!

I used the following new stash: stamp, washi tape, ribbon

Materials:

Stamp: Retro Car America Twenties from Flonz Craft

Ink: Pewter Multi Media 

CS: Chalkboard and white

Washi tape

Ribbon

Make It:

• Make a card from white CS and add a layer of white CS
• On the chalkboard CS, stamp the car with Pewter ink and set with a heat gun---Note: this ink stays wet longer than dye ink, so be careful not to smudge it.
• Tear the washi tape in half lengthwise and wrap around edge of chalkboard CS
• Add stamped piece to card
• Cut a piece of ribbon and turn under top edge and glue to card

Done.  This is a fun and easy masculine card, but it still has lots of interest and movement with addition of the washi tape and ribbon.  This will be going in my send box.  I think this would be a fun series to make differing the washi tape color and ink colors.  Fun, fun, fun!!

Vintage Stamping December Challenge

Hello All!
Just going crazy here in Dreamland today with all the new challenges!!  The December Vintage Stamping Challenge begins today!  The new challenge theme is:

Winter Trees

The challenge is sponsored by Flonz Craft Stamps! They are offering a $20 gift certificate!!!
I used Winter trees to create a Christmas card for my DT project.

Materials:

Stamps: Merrie Christmas Set from Flonz Craft Stamps

Ink: Olive Grove Memento

CS: Cream, red, dark green

DP: Authentique Festive Collection

Red Rhinestones

Narrow ribbons in two colors

Instructions:

• Make a card from red CS
• Add layer of dark green CS
• Stamp the image on cream CS with Olive Grove ink

• Add the stamped piece to the lower part of the card base
• Cut a rectangle of patterned paper 
• Wrap the ribbon around the patterned paper and add to card base
• Tie two colors of the narrow ribbon in a bow and add to card

• Add the rhinestones under the sentiment
• Decorated the inside with the CS and patterned paper
• Stamp the Merrie Christmas (also in the stamp set) on cream  CS and cut out
• Add to the inside

Vintage Stamping Challenge Anything Goes!!

Hello Everyone,

Time for a new challenge with  the Vintage Stamping Challenge .  The challenge is a bit late this month, but our DT leader was away on vacation.  She is now back and we are up and running.  Sorry for the delay.  Winners of past challenges should be posted shortly too.

Since this is a busy time of year and lots of folks are on vacation, we have decided to select everyone's favorite theme...... Anything Goes!!

For my Design Team project, I used a humorous image to create an "Over the Hill" Birthday card.

Materials List:

Stamp:Funny Farm Set - Flonzcraft Stamps

Ink: black dye

CS: White, Brown, Tweed

Copic Markers

Burlap Ribbon

Dimensional adhesive

 Instructions:

• Make card from Tweed CS
• Add a rectangle of Brown CS to left side
• Add a square of White CS
• Stamp the Horse on another piece of White CS and color with Copic Markers
• Cut out the Horse and add to the card with dimensional adhesive

• Tie a knot in the burlap ribbon and glue to the white CS
• Stamp or print "over the hill"; cut out, and add to card

Well, I think this card will go to someone with a good sense of humor!  LOL  Love this humorous horse!  I think it is perfect for over the hill cards.  Oh, wouldn't it be funny for a retirement card too??!

Vintage Stamping Challenge - Travel

I made a collage type project with stamping and lots of ephemera.  It is a card, but this could be used as a page or a small hanging piece.  

Materials List:

Stamps: Old Steam Locomotive (Flonz Craft); numbers, and travel word

Ink: Onyx Black Versa-Fine

Distress Ink: Frayed Burlap, Antique Linen, Tea Dye

CS: cream, dark brown, yellow and blue textured

Ticket Die Cut - AMuse Studios

Leather

Various Ephemera- map, stamps, stamp images 

Instructions:

• Make a card from blue textured CS
• Tear a large square form yellow CS
• Tear the edges of a map to fit the  yellow CS -distress with the Distress inks
• Add map to card base
• Stamp the Locomotive on cream CS -distress edges and layer with dark brown CS
• Add to card base

• Distress the stamps and stamp ephemera and add to card
• Die cut two tickets and stamp with numbers; tear in half and add to card
• Stamp travel on cream CS and add to card
• Tie a knot in a leather lace and glue to card

I love how the stamps look on this piece.  Some of them are real stamps from a package from New Zealand.  And, of course, love that vintage looking locomotive stamp!   Would love it if you made your own Travel themed project and link up on the Vintage Stamping Challenge Blog.  See you next time!!

Hot Summer Colors with Vintage Stamping Challenge

I am currently on vacation, but have set up several posts for your viewing pleasure.  LOL.  The first of the month always brings a new Vintage Stamping Challenge!!

Yellow Rick Rack

Orange Ribbon

Instructions:

• Make a card base from Orange CS
• Add Layer of Cool Caribbean
• Cut a layer of Poppy Parade - don't add to card yet....
• Add a layer of Cool Caribbean to Poppy layer
• Cut two rectangles from DP and to Poppy layer
• Wrap with ribbon and rick rack and add this section to the card base

•  Stamp the Herons on white CS with Red Pepper ink and add to the card front

• Stamp the sentiment on white CS with Red Pepper ink and cut ends
• Add to the card with dimensional adhesive

I made a small wall hanging piece using corrugated cardboard as the base.

Materials List

Stamps: Flowers Engraving from Flonzcraft Stamps

Ink: Aged Mahogany and Victorian Velvet Distress inks

CS: Very Vanilla and Blush Blossom from Stampin' Up

Gelli Plate, Acrylic Paint, and Embossing folder to make Background paper 

Tan Ribbon

Pearl Trim- from Hobby Lobby

Vintage crochet piece

Corrugated Cardboard

Lumiere Paint

Old Paper Crackle Paint- Ranger

 Instructions:

• Cut a piece of corrugated cardboard to size and tear the top layer of brown paper off exposing the ridges
• Paint the cardboard with Lumiere and crackle paints
• Let dry
• Add the crochet lace and tie ribbon around cardboard

• Make the background paper with a Gelli plate/or use a piece of distressed CS
• Stamp the Flowers Engraving stamp onto Vanilla CS by inking the stamp with both Aged Mahogany and Victorian Velvet inks
• Tear the CS and distress edges with distress inks

• Add stamped piece to CS background
• Add pearl trim
• Add to cardboard

•  Add ribbon at top of piece to use for hanging 

I will hang this in my living room--so fun to make decorating pieces from elegant stamps like Flowers Engraving.  Hope you join us with your own Shabby Chic project.   Hope you have a super day!

Handmade Flowers- Vintage Stamping Challenge

I made a crocheted flower for a fun spring inspired card.  I added a super cute little chicken stamp from Flonzcraft.

Materials:

Stamps: Cute Chicken from Flonzcraft Stamps; Alpha Dots from My Sentiments Exactly!

Ink: Jet Black Stazon; Old Olive dye - Stampin' Up

CS: Barely Banana, Pea Pizzazz, and Strawberry Slush - Stampin' Up

DP: Stampin' Up

Leaves Die Cut - Sizzix

Pearls

Dimensional Adhesive

Pearls

Markers

White Crochet thread and crochet hook

Instructions:

• Make a card from Strawberry Slush CS
• Add a layer of Pear Pizzazz CS and DP
• Die cut Leaves from DP and add to card

•  Crochet flower using white crochet thread size 10 with a size 1 hook  ( I used a pattern from the book "Flower Bouquet" by Suzann Thompson; Lark Books
• Glue the flower to the card 
• Add a pearl to the center of flower

• Stamp Cute Chicken with Stazon ink on Barely Banana CS and fussy cut
• Color Chicken with markers
• Add Chicken to  card with dimensional adhesive
• Stamp letters and cut or punch out
• Add letters using dimensional adhesive
• Add pearls around letters

Totally cute Chicken!  This card would be great for a baby, Spring, even to just to say hello to a friend.  Let's see what you can come up with for the Handmade flower Challenge!  Hope you have fun with the theme!

Vintage Stamping Challenge- Olde Worlde

Hello Everyone!
Time for a new challenge on the Vintage Stamping Challenge Blog!  The theme for the month of March is:

Olde Worlde---things that look old (or are old) vintagey things, Victorian things--- you get the idea. There must be some stamping on your project.

For my Olde Worlde project, I used a vintagey locomotive stamp and added Steampunk elements.

Materials List:
Stamps: Old Steam Locomotive and Happy Birthday Greetings, Wishes both from Flonzcraft Stamps
Ink: Onyx Black Versa Fine, Black Soot Distress Ink
CS: Kraft; Crumb Cake (Stampin' Up); Black; and Gold
Dies: Banner and Ticket from A Muse Studios; Vintage Flourish from My Favorite Things
Embossing Folder-Gears from Tim Holtz
Silver Metal embellishments and Silver brads
Spray Inks
Template: Mini Cosmic Swirls from Crafters Workshop

Instructions:

• Make a card from Kraft CS and layer with black CS
• Make the background paper using a template and spray inks
• Cut the background paper to size and distress edges with Black Soot ink

• Dry emboss a piece of gold paper and cut out one of the gears
• Add Gear to card base
• Stamp the Locomotive with Onyx Black ink on Crumb Cake CS and layer with black
• Add to the Card base
• Die cut all the elements from gold paper
• Add metal stickers to banner and add brads to card

• Stamp two wings and cut out
• Stamp Happy Birthday on ticket and distress with Black Soot ink
• Add wings and ticket
• Stamp a sentiment on the inside
