What We Do Best Event with Technique Junkies week 4

Hello Everyone,
Hope you are doing well.  Doing good here. Still under stay at home order here in Michigan.  During my at home time,  I have been making lots and lots of cards.  And,  I decided to participate in the Event going on over on the  Technique Junkies Blog ( see all the details on the blog).  They are hosting a What We Do Best (WWDB) event on their blog and on Facebook.  This is week four of the event and the theme is make an encouragement card and envelope.

Stamps: All from Technique Junkies
Afternoon Tea
Always Find a Song

Card and envelope:

Image was stamped with black Memento Ink and colored with copic markers.  Then die cut and layered onto a purple card base.

TIP: when coloring on the envelope, which is fairly thin paper, I placed a piece of cardstock on the inside of the envelope.  And, then stamped and colored the image.  The cardstock soaked up any bleed thru of the ink and Copic Marker.  This kept the other side of the envelope nice and clean.

Card was embellished with a wide sheer ribbon and pearls.

Inside:
Fussy cut the bird and stamped the sentiment with black ink.  I used a lavender copic marker to colored in the letters on the sentiment.

Love this tea cup image.  I love all things tea and coffee.  And, the fact that there is also a bird on the image is a major plus ...for me.  LOL  Love birds too.  This is the final week for the WWDB event.

Next post I will be continuing with my girly birthday cards.... So see you then.  So happy you stopped by and hope you are having a great day.

Thinking of You Card for Technique Junkies WWDB Event

Hello Everyone,
Hope you are doing well.  Doing good here. Still under stay at home order here in Michigan.  It has been too cold to work out side so I have been making lots of cards.  And,  I decided to participate in the Event going on over on the  Technique Junkies Blog ( see all the details on the blog).  They are hosting a What We Do Best (WWDB) event on their blog and on Facebook.

Week three is to make a Thinking of You card and envelope.  The idea is to send out cards now to show people we care.  Technique Junkie Stamps must be used.

Here is my card and envelope:

Stamps used from Technique Junkies:
Vintage Floral Collage

Envelope:  Fussy cut one of the flowers from the stamped image and layer with lace.  Tied a sheer ribbon around the flower stem.

Inks Used:
Distress ink from Ranger--
Dried Marigold
Picked Raspberry
Victorian Velvet
Fired Brick
Mustard Seed
Shabby Shutters

Black Archival
Distress Markers

To create the effect on the card, I did three things.

  1. Inked the stamp with distress markers using different colors in different areas and stamping on Mixed Media paper...I thought the image need more definition after this step so...
  2. I inked the stamp with Black Archival ink and stamped again over the first stamping.
  3. Then I colored with  the markers to add more color to the flowers.

I also distressed the edges of the stamped piece with distress inks.  And, added several layers and lace with a sheer bow.  The sentiment was die cut.

Inside: Fussy cut one of the flowers.

Here are some other stamped examples:

  1. Stamped with black Archival ink.  Then stamped without reinking after stamping the second image below. This has very subtle coloring.
  2. stamped with gray ink.  Re-inked with markers, spritzed with water, and stamped over first stamped (gray) image.

 3. Stamped with black Archival ink and colored with Distress markers

4. The gray ink was a second stamping as was the markers.   I added a little more water to the stamped and stamped over the gray image without reinking.

So, as you can see, I had a lot of fun with this Vintage Floral Collage stamp.  Plenty of images now all ready to be made into projects.
One more card and envelope for the WWDB event to go: an encouragement card.  I will share that next week.  So glad you stopped by today.  Have a lovely day.

Hello Everyone,
Hope you are doing well.  Doing good here. Still under stay at home order here in Michigan.  My husband is able to work at home.  And, I have plenty of time to make cards.  I decided to participate in the Event going on over on the  Technique Junkies Blog ( see all the details on the blog).  They are hosting a What We Do Best (WWDB) event on their blog and on Facebook.

Week two is to make a Get Well card and envelope.  The idea is to send out cards now to show people we care.  Technique Junkie Stamps must be used.

Here is my project.  A cute little kitten hanging in there!

Stamps Used from Technique Junkies:
Hang in There Cat
Hang in There Sentiment
Houndstooth Check

The Houndstooth Check stamp was stamped with Rhubarb stalk Memento ink onto kraft CS for a snazzy background.  The Kitty was stamped in black ink on white cs and layered with black, Cherry Cobbler (SU), and kraft cs.  I added the Sentiment also stamped in Rhubarb Stalk ink.

This card is also posted on the Technique Junkies' Facebook page.  You can stop over there and check out all the great cards!!  So happy you stopped by today.  I have two more cards to post for the WWDB event over the next several weeks.  A thinking of you and a encouragement card.  See you again soon.
