Dragonfly with Pearls

Hello Everyone,
I am continuing the beautiful flying insect theme today with a dragonfly card.  This card features stamping, die cutting, and pearls.
I layered four different decorative papers to really jazz up the background.  Also did some stamping over the large yellow flower paper in lower right corner.

The dragonfly is die cut from a shinny heavier decorative paper.  I really like how that turned out.  The recipient of the card remarked on the way the die cut dragonfly looked. Check your stash.  You probably have some of those glossy/shinny decorative papers.  Try them for your die cuts.

Inside of card: Stamps from Stampin' Up.

So glad you stopped by today.  See you again soon with something crafty!

Butterflies with Chevron Background

Hello Crafting Friends,
Looking forward to Summer? I know I am.  Just love all the butterflies and hummingbirds that visit my yard each summer.  Today, I have a pretty butterfly card with chevron paper background.  This became a Mother's Day card.  I stamped sentiments on the inside.   I have been doing more inside only sentiments lately because one of my friends requested that.  She likes to frame my cards and use them as art work for her walls.  She prefers they not have sentiments on the front so she can leave them up all year and not have to change them out according to a holiday or season.

This is a stamp and die from Stampin' Up . I added pretty papers for a real color and pattern explosion.  Also added 6 metal dot embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by today.  See you next time for more crafting fun!

Napkins on My Cards - Part Two

Hello Everyone,
This is Part two of the napkin cards using wax.  The napkin cards seen to be a favorite on Pinterest.  See the post for part one on my blog here.

The backgrounds and layered pieces are made from wax covered napkins.  I have an older post on my blog with a short tutorial here This is very messy, but a fun technique to try.

The cards are larger and square:  5.5 inches

I made this card into a sympathy card.

The second card is not layered.  I added rows of pearls and a pretty bow.

Here you can see the wax on the card below.  Love all that texture.

This floral card is a bit smaller.

Hope you enjoyed the napkin cards!!  The finished cards have lots of impact so much of that lovely texture.

See you next time!!

Napkins - On My Cards! Part One

Hello Everyone!
I made more of my napkin cards recently.  The napkin cards a very popular on Pinterest and are pinned all the time.  So, I thought I would post a few more.
The background and layered pieces are all made from napkins.  I am sure you have beautiful napkins at home.  I will even buy them if they are so pretty I can't resist.  LOL

I have an older post that explains the process here.  Hot wax is used over the napkins.  Very messy, but stunning results.

The cards a square and measure 5.5 inches.

I layered some of the sections: the bird and a few of the flowers.

You can see the wax fairly well in the photo below.  Really gives an interesting shinny texture to the background.

Here is a second card.  Again, I layered the bird, leaves, and butterfly for interest.

A really fun technique to try sometime.  If you try it, make a lot of these, because, as I said it is messy.  So, make up a large supply of them to keep you stocked up for a while.
Thanks for stopping by.  I will share more of the napkin cards in the next post.

Refashioned Denim project

Hello Everyone,
Changing things up a bit today with a sewing project.  I have jumped on the refashioning band wagon in a big way.  I find it  is so rewarding to take a garment that is never worn and changed into something really cool and fun to wear.  The project today is refashioned from a pair of denim shorts.  The shorts were never a favorite and did not fit well.
This is a picture of the shorts.  I have already taken them apart at the crotch seam.

Here is my new warp denim skirt.  I added a second denim to the front and bottom edge.  I sewed an exposed  separating zipper onto both edges of the front.  This how I get in and out of the skirt.  I added some large snaps on the opposite edge of the front to keep the skirt closed and in place.

This is a view  of the back.  I did have to add a small godet in back to get everything to lay flat.

This was such a fun project!  I enjoyed the process of working through the refashion step by step.  I liked the end results so much, I made a second skirt in white denim.  I will share the photos of that project later.

Hope you enjoyed this interlude of sewing.  Next post will be about card making, but I will continue to show you my sewing projects too.
Hope you are having a great day!!
